The Park That’s a Small Country

Wrangell-St. Elias in Alaska is the largest national park in the US, encompassing 13.2 million acres. That means it is the same size as Yellowstone, Yosemite and Switzerland combined, and one-third of the park is purely glaciers. The National Parks system in Alaska covers 54.6 million acres, making up 65 percent of the entire NPS.
